The Neelakurinji Blooms only once in every 12 years and the hills of Munnar,Kerala, India will be bathed in a dreamy shade of Blue colour from August 2018 to October 2018. Botanical name of Neelakurinji is “Strobilanthes Kunthianus” .
The reason Neelakurinji flowers blooms only once is 12 is they grow from the seed, bloom, produce seeds and die in one growing season. Neelakurinji Bloomed last at the Eravikulam National Park in 2006. As per the park authorities, more than 3 lakh tourists visited the park during that time. This year officials is expecting 5 Lakh visitors.
Tickets
About 75 Percent of the total tickets are selling online and remaining 25 percent will be sold from counters at Marayoor wildlife complex and old Munnar.
The adults ticket price will be Rs 120 per person Rs 90 for children. Foreigners will be charged Rs 400 per person .For using camera inside the park, Rs 40 extra will be charged and Video Camera charged Rs 315.
